Wikinews interviews Tom Millican, independent candidate for US President

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

While nearly all cover of the 2008 Presidential election has focused on the Democratic and Republican candidates, the race for the White House also includes independents and third party candidates. These parties represent a variety of views that may not be acknowledged by the major party platforms.

As a non-partisan news source, Wikinews has impartially reached out to these candidates, throughout the campaign. The most recent of our interviews is North Carolina, Tom Millican, an independent corporate manager and Vietnam veteran.

US automaker bailout deal fails to pass Senate

Friday, December 12, 2008

A US$14 billion bailout package deal for the “Big Three” United States automakers — Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors — has been rejected in the United States Senate after failing a procedural vote.

The bill was rejected after bipartisan discussions on the bailout broke down when Republican Party leaders insisted that the United Auto Workers (UAW) union agree to increase wage cuts by next year in order to bring their pay into line with those of Japanese automobile companies in the United States. The UAW refused to meet the demands.

The final vote count in the Senate was 52-35, eight short of the 60 needed to pass. Only ten Republicans joined forty Democrats and two independents in voting for the bill. Three Democrats voted with thirty-one Republicans against it.

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid said that he was “terribly disappointed” by the failure of the bill to pass. “I dread looking at Wall Street tomorrow. It’s not going to be a pleasant sight,” Reid said. “Millions of Americans, not only the auto workers but people who sell cars, car dealerships, people who work on cars are going to be directly impacted and affected.”

Republican Senator Bob Corker was also unhappy about the rejection. “We were about three words away from a deal. We solved everything substantively and about three words keep us from reaching a conclusion,” he said.

Some Democrats now want U.S. President Bush to reserve a portion of the $700 billion bailout package earmarked for Wall Street to assist the flagging car industry.

Stock markets worldwide fell dramatically on the news, with Japan’s Nikkei average losing 484.68 points, or 5.6 percent, reaching a level of 8253.87 points. Shares in the auto companies Toyota, Nissan and Honda all dropped by no less than 10 percent apiece. European stocks, such as those in the United Kingdom and Germany, also lost ground, with the FTSE-100 index of leading shares falling 176.3 points to a level of 4,211 at midday.

Correcting cosmetic nasal defects with Radiesse results in a high level of patient

Satisfaction and gives surgeons an option for patients not ready for rhinoplasty.

Until recently the only option open to patients who wanted to improve the appearance of their nose was surgical rhinoplasty, a procedure that requires general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, up to two weeks of downtime, significant postoperative pain and substantial expense. The full results of the surgery might not be completely known for several months, and surgical risks include scaring, infection and anesthesia complications. For patients with cosmetic nasal defects such as bumps, bulges, dents and asymmetry, it isn’t surprising that making the decisions to have rhinoplasty can be difficult. Now surgeons have an option that offers patients immediate, if temporary, relief from many of these bothersome nasal imperfections for less than $1,000.Seeing the results of this temporary solution can help some patients make up their mind to invest in the long-term surgical solution and offers others the ongoing option of correcting the defect on their own schedule when it fits their needs.

Patient Selection and Preparation

The nonsurgical nose job produces an extremely high degree of patient satisfaction. Patients find it hard to believe that with just 15 minutes of virtually painless, side wall or tip, surgeons can recontour the nose to address many of their dislikes about its appearance. While nonsurgical correction cannot decrease the size of a large nose or change the shape of the nostrils, it is ideal for patients with bumps or dents, sideways deviations or a droopy tip in those who are not emotionally or physically ready for surgery. Fillers can even be used to refine problems that persist after rhinoplasty, although patients with multiple rhinoplasties may be at risk for skin necrosis due to changes in blood supply related to surgical manipulation.

Just prior to the procedure, surgeons apply a topical mix of 60% lidocane/6% tetracaine to minimize pain. Injection sites are marked and the area is thoroughly cleansed with alcohol pads.

Procedure

Preferred filler for nose jobs is Radiesse (BioForm Medical), FDA-approved dermal filler consisting of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) suspended in a carboxy-methylcellulose gel. It is ideal for this procedure for several reasons:

Correction with Radiesse lasts longer than correction with hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers-6 to 10 months with CaHa compared to 3 to 6 months with HA.

It provides more volume compared to Ha fillers; small amounts of Radiesse can result in great differences.

DETAILS

Calcium hydroxylapatite , a mineral found in bones and teeth, matches the consistency of the better than other dermal fillers.

Radiesse is a paste-like substance, which molds easily and is less likely to migrate compared to HA fillers, especially in an area like the nose where the filler may be under pressure due to the limited capacity of the nasal skin to expand. The procedure typically takes 15 minutes or less. Using a 27-guage, half-inch needle, Surgeons inject the filler into the subcutaneous tissues or super-periosteal plane and then mold it into shape. The amount of filler used ranges from 0.1cc to 0.5cc, based on the type of deformity. Nasal bridge construction on Asian or African American noses can require up to 1.0cc of Radiesse.

Surgeons apply ice immediately following the injections. Patients report little or no discomfort during the procedure.

Expected Results

Although there is no downtime and patients can return to work and general activities immediately, the nose can be slightly red and swollen, and the injection sites may be slightly sore for a day or two. There is a risk for skin necrosis as there is with any type of injection. I ask patients not to touch the area for a week, not to wear glasses (including sunglasses) and to forgo contact sports for a week. Patients are instructed to return for follow-up in two weeks.

There are no lasting side effects with this procedure, and the level of patient satisfaction is extremely high. The nonsurgical nose job is a simple, minimally invasive technique for patients who are interested in improving the appearance of their nose without undergoing rhinoplasty.

The majority of active ingredients used in skincare today are too large to penetrate the skin’s outer layer. Instead, antioxidants and beneficial nutrients merely sit on top of the stratum corneum and have…..a minimal effect on the overall health of your skin.

SESHA SKIN THERAPY utilizes PETTM a revolutionary and FDA accredited delivery system, to deliver pharmaceutical grade antioxidants, botanicals and vitamins where they are needed most-below the skin’s surface.

Deadly fire below US President’s Trump Tower residence

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

On Saturday, the Trump Tower, in Midtown, New York City, caught fire shortly before 18:00 EST (2200 UTC) on the 50th floor, claiming the life of a 67-year-old resident, Todd Brassner, who lived in apartment 50C. All other residents were evacuated without incident. During the fire, six firefighters received non-life-threatening burns and other minor injuries. Neither US President Donald Trump nor the First Family were in the building at the time of the fire.

The high-end Fifth Avenue address is the personal residence of President Donald Trump, whose family occupies the top three stories of the 58-story building. The US Secret Service maintains a constant security presence inside the building with the New York City Police Department guarding a hard perimeter, intended to stop vehicular attacks, and a soft perimeter, intended for on-foot attacks.

The four-alarm fire required 200 firemen, extra police, and paramedics. At 20:00 EST (0000 UTC Sunday), the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) declared the fire was under control. Trump tweeted, “Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!” This is the second fire at Trump Tower since the election; previously on January 8, a fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in a cooling tower on the roof. Three FDNY firefighters received minor injuries, and all residents and office workers evacuated without incident on that occasion.

Trump Tower provides a number of unique problems never before encountered by the Secret Service. Never has a US President’s personal residence been inside a skyscraper or in a densely populated area like Midtown. The security measures have disrupted vehicular and pedestrian traffic requiring time consuming detours and delaying emergency response.

The New York Fire Code did not mandate sprinkler systems at the time Trump Tower was built in 1983, which might have reduced the size and severity of the fire had they been present. The 50th-floor apartment was, according to FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro, “[T]he apartment was virtually, entirely on fire.” The Secret Service monitors all the fire alarms in the building but it took time to find the source of the thick black smoke emanating from the fire. Secret Service Agents escorted the firefighters throughout the building, including the Trump residence.

Brassner, the sole casualty, was unconscious when firefighters pulled him out of apartment 50C. He was transported to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital. Originally listed as critical, he was pronounced dead sometime during the night. Brassner, guitar collector, was acquainted with artist Andy Warhol and was acknowledged in Warhol’s 1989 autobiography, The Andy Warhol Diaries. The cause of the fire is unknown, with investigations into Brassner’s death and the emergency response ongoing. Currently, the Secret Service leads the investigation.

CEO of GM outlines plan for “New GM” after auto company declared bankruptcy

Thursday, June 4, 2009

In a New York press conference at 16:15 UTC, June 1st, Fritz Henderson, the Chief Executive Officer of General Motors, which filed for bankruptcy and Chapter 11 protection from its creditors earlier today, outlined a plan for what he called a “New GM”.

Speaking to the press under safe harbor provisions of U.S. law, Henderson described the events of today as a “defining moment” in the history of General Motors. Speaking to the public he said that “The GM that let you down is history,” and described a “New GM” that he expected to result from the bankruptcy process.

Henderson stated that he envisioned the bankruptcy process would take between 60 and 90 days. He stressed several times his view that the process would be one that is executed quickly, saying that not just a sense of urgency but “pure unadulterated speed” was his expectation of the process. He emphasized that “GM remains open for business” during the bankruptcy period, continuing to sell and to support its products, and that day one motions had been filed in the bankruptcy court in order to allow this.

Regarding the bankruptcy process he said, “We will do it right. And we will do it once.”

He stated that the plan for General Motors had the support of the United Auto Workers union, the Canadian Auto Workers union, the GM VEBA, and a majority of the unsecured bondholders of GM. He also mentioned that GM had already received €1.5 million in bridge financing from the German government.

In response to questions about the possibility of the United States federal government, a majority shareholder in the restructured company, dictating future product development and strategy, such as the sale of more fuel-efficient and green vehicles; he first observed that the federal government had already stated to him that it had “no real interest in running our business” and that he expected that still to be his job. Of the specific hypothetical scenario where the management of GM wants to make one type of car, because it thinks that it is the right thing for the business, and the U.S. government wants to make another type of car, he stated that “I don’t think it’s going to happen.” Expanding on that point he stated that he expected the “New GM” to focus upon “highly fuel-efficient and green technology”, and that operating both in accordance with U.S. environmental laws and in response to customer demand would naturally result in the New GM producing the types of vehicles that the U.S. government would encourage.

The “New GM” he also expected to focus on “four core brands”, and will size its dealership to match that. He stated that GM would offer a “deferred termination” package to dealers, to allow them to cease dealing in GM vehicles in a managed and gradual way.

He stated that the bankruptcy filings did not cover General Motors’ businesses in Latin America, Europe and the Middle East, and Asia and the Pacific. Of GM’s profitable ventures in China, specifically, he stated that they were “a critical part of the New GM”. In response to questions of whether the New GM would import cars from China to the U.S., he stated the formative company’s core principle that “We build where we sell” applied in both directions, with GM building in China to sell in China and building in the U.S. to sell in the U.S., stating that this shortened supply chains.

He declined to predict when the New GM would return to profitability, stating that the goal was rather to lower the break-even EBIT point for the company. He also declined to speculate upon when the U.S. government would sell its stake in the company, saying that that was a question “better addressed to the U.S. Treasury”, and merely saying that he expected it to be “years, not months” when the U.S. Treasury felt it would give “the right return for taxpayers.”

Two Public Speaking Models For Marketers Educating Vs. Selling From The Stage

Submitted by: Marcia Yudkin

You may have heard that speaking on stage, in teleseminars, via webinars is a terrific way to build your list and get those in your target market excited about doing business with you. What you probably have not heard is that there are two vastly different paradigms for using speaking to generate leads and grow your customer base.

Depending on your goals and your vision of how you prefer to relate to clients, you ll surely gravitate to one model or the other. This is important, because mixing elements from the two models leads to frustration and confusion, both on your part and among your audience. Once you understand your preferences, you ll know which marketers to emulate and which to ignore and why. And because you ll be more consistent in how you speak, you ll see results from your speaking efforts gradually improving.

Model #1: Speaking to Sell

Here the overall goal is to maximize sales to those in the audience, both now and in the future. Whatever accomplishes that goal is considered appropriate. Any education that comes about through the event is incidental and not a high priority.

Model #2: Speaking to Educate

Here the overall goal is to provide a service to the audience by informing them about a topic area. Those who find this education helpful are invited in a low-key way to become clients, either by simply signing on to a list where they will be further educated and sold to over time, by contacting the speaker after the talk or by making a small introductory purchase now. In this model, selling takes place but it is essential for each educational event to be complete and self-contained rather than a come-on for something else.

Advice from proponents of Model #1:

* Speak fast, which creates an environment conducive to buying. It doesn t matter whether or not the audience can follow.

* Tell your personal story so the audience will feel comfortable buying from you.

* Include testimonials and success stories, which prime people to buy.

* Ignore program evaluations. All that counts is how much you sold from each event.

* Provide an order form, not handouts.

* If using informative slides, keep them up only for a short time. Their function is to serve as teasers for a paid product, not to teach anything.

* Don t charge a speaking fee. Your compensation is your sales. It s customary to split event sales 50/50 with the sponsor of the event.

* End with an explicit offer and tell the audience where to go immediately with their credit card or cash in hand.

Advice from proponents of Model #2:

* Master the art of speaking, so listeners have the best possible educational experience when in your audience.

* Have someone else introduce you so you can concentrate on subject matter during your talk. Stay away from personal anecdotes unless they drive home an educational point.

* Include examples only to the extent that they make your educational points more vivid.

* Always scrutinize program evaluations for ways you can improve.

* Provide handouts that include your short bio and where audience members can learn more from you.

* When using slides, orchestrate them so participants can absorb the information more easily.

* If an audience includes perfect prospects, you may agree to speak for free, but given the valuable educational information you provide, speaking fees are welcome and appropriate. Sales at or immediately after an event are a nice bonus, not the main goal. Event sponsors do not receive a cut of sales.

* Conclude with a strong close that reinforces the overall theme of your talk and the audience s perception of you as the expert.

Both of these models can build a large, thriving business. Sticking to the model is important so that those in the audience receive consistent signals and know what to expect from you in the future. My own passionate preference is for Model #2 because I find it more respectful of audiences and it better fits my values and personality. When I encounter gurus using Model #1, I can t stand to follow them for long because I come to feel all they care about is money. Your preference may be the opposite!

Canada’s west coast battles high winds

Thursday, November 16, 2006

Currently, there are blackouts, heavy rain, and high winds in British Columbia. Over 220,000 BC Hydro customers have no power. Buildings have already collapsed and trees have been knowed down. Five Vancouver rivers were in danger of flooding, which rain fell at 10 mm an hour for more than six hours at midday.

The steel frame of a four-storey building under construction in Vancouver collapsed. Construction workers escaped injury, luckily they were on a coffee break at the time of the incident. The steel frame crushed cars in a parking lot and missed a truck driver.

Citizens had to evacuate a subdivision of 30 homes. The winds smashed trees into houses in West Vancouver.

“We have some real fears here with electrical problems,” said Captain Rob Jones Cook of the Vancouver Fire Department. “This is impinging on electrical poles and lamp standards. We also have hydro bus lines running down two sides of the building.” The Vancouver Fire Department says they have no idea as to why the building collapsed.

Winds are gusting at more than 100 kilometres an hour (62 mph) in some areas and rainfall amounts of 50 to 130 millimetres.

According BC Hydro spokeswoman Elisha Moreno, the hardest-hit areas are Vancouver, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford and Mission, B.C. “We’re trying to be optimistic and hoping it’s by end of day today, but there may very well be customers that are into the early-morning hours before restoration,” Moreno said.

Extensive ferry cancellations, road closures, and massive power outages are in effect until the storm ends.

The RCMP have advised people to stay home and off the highway.

The same heavy weather has also affected nearby Washington State, USA.

2006 “Stolenwealth” Games to confront Commonwealth Games in Melbourne

Friday, March 3, 2006

The possibility of large-scale protests in the face of the 3,000 journalists covering the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, has event organisers and the Government worried.

The group “Black GST” – which represents Indigenous Genocide, Sovereignty and Treaty – are planning demonstrations at prominent Games events unless the Government agrees to a range of demands including an end to Aboriginal genocide, Aboriginal Sovereignty and the signing of a treaty.

The Black GST say they hope the focus of the world’s media will draw attention to the plight of indigenous Australians during the Games. Organisers say supporters are converging from across Australia and from overseas. Organisers say up to 20,000 people may take part in talks, rallies, colourful protests and many cultural festivities designed to pressure the Federal Government on Indigeneous rights issues. They want the Government to provide a temporary campsite for the supporters, saying “organised chaos was better than disorganised chaos.”

The 2006 Stolenwealth Games convergence, described by organisers as the “cultural festival of the 2006 Commonwealth Games,” was virtually opened on March 2nd with the launch of the official “Stolenwealth Games” website. Scoop Independent News and Perth Indymedia reported that the launch was held at Federation Square in Melbourne. The site contents were projected via wireless laptop by the Stolenwealth Games General Manager, and a tour of the website was given on the big screen. He said “overwhelming amusement was the response from the audience.” The group say permanent access points to the website are being set up at public internet facilities across Victoria during the coming weeks.

“Interest in the Stolenwealth Games is building all over the world and this fresh, exciting and contemporary site will draw in people from Stolenwealth Nations around the globe to find out about the latest news and events,” said a Stolenwealth Games spokesperson. “We have been getting many requests from around the world wanting to know about the Stolenwealth Games. We have provided many ways that individuals and organisations can support the campaign by spreading the word.”

The Victorian Traditional Owner Land Justice Group (VTOLJG) which represents the first nation groups of Victoria, has announced its support to boycott the 2006 Commonwealth Games until the Government “recognises Traditional Owner rights.” The group asserts that culture has been misappropriated in preparation for the Games.

Organisers of the campaign say they welcome the formal support from the Traditional Owners. “While some seek to divide and discredit Indigenous Australia, this support is further evidence that the Aboriginal people are united in opposition to the ongoing criminal genocide that is being perpetrated against the Aboriginal people” said Black GST supporter and Aboriginal Elder, Robbie Thorpe.

“We now have endorsement from the VTOLJG and the Aboriginal Tent Embassy for the aims and objectives of the Campaign and we are looking forward to hosting all indigenous and non-indigenous supporters from across Australia in March,” he said. The Black GST group have said “the convergence will be held as a peaceful, family-focussed demonstration against genocide, and for the restoration of sovereignty and the negotiations towards a Treaty.”

But the campaign has received flak in mainstream media, such as Melbourne’s Herald Sun, who wrote: “the proposal to allow BlackGST to set up an Aboriginal tent embassy at a site well away from the Commonwealth Games will be interpreted by some as the State Government caving in to a radical protest group. A major concern for the Government… is to protect the event from disruption… no chances should be taken…”

The Black GST has been planning the convergence for months, calling for Aboriginal people and their supporters to converge on Melbourne. The Melbourne-based Indigenous rights group have called on thousands of people concerned about the plight of indigenous Australians to converge on Melbourne during the Games, which they have dubbed “the Stolenwealth Games”. But the choice of Kings Domain has made conflict almost inevitable, as the area is one of the areas gazetted by the State Government as a “Games management zone”.

Under the Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act, any area gazetted as a management zone is subject to a range of specific laws – including bans on protesting, creating a disturbance and other activities. The protest bans will be in effect at different times and places, and offenders can be arrested. A spokeswoman for the Black GST, which advocates peaceful protest, said the site had been chosen because it was close to where the Queen will stay on March 15. “We figured that she is only in Melbourne for 27 hours or something like that so we thought we would make it easy for her to come next door and see us,” she said. “We are a very open, welcoming group, so she will be welcome to come and join us.”

Kings Domain is the burial site for 38 indigenous forefathers of Victoria. Black GST elder, Targan, said trade union groups have offered to install infrastructure at the site. The group initially worked with the State Government to find a suitable camp site, but the relationship broke down when the Government failed to meet a deadline imposed by the protesters. “While we are disappointed the ministers were not able to meet deadline on our request, we thank them for their constructive approach towards negotiations and the open-door policy exercised,” said Targan.

A spokesman for Games Minister Justin Madden said the Government was still investigating other sites. Victoria Police Games security commander Brendan Bannan said he was not convinced the Black GST represented the views of most indigenous people. “We are dealing with the Aboriginal community and they don’t seem to support it at all … the wider Aboriginal community don’t support disruption to the Games at all,” he said.

The Government was told that Black GST supporters would camp in Fitzroy Gardens and other city parks should it fail to nominate a site. A spokesman for Aboriginal Affairs Minister Gavan Jennings said the Government was taking the issue seriously, but had not been able to finalise a campsite before the deadline.

Under special Games laws, people protesting or causing a disturbance in “Games management zones” can be arrested and fined. While prominent public spaces such as Federation Square, Birrarung Marr, Albert Park and the Alexandra Gardens fall under the legislation, such tough anti-protest laws cannot be enforced in the nearby Fitzroy Gardens.

Games chairman Ron Walker has urged the group to choose another date for its protest march through the city, which is currently planned to coincide with the opening ceremony on March 15. The group believes that an opportunity to gain attention for indigenous issues was lost at the Sydney Olympics and has vowed to make a highly visible presence at the Games.

The Black GST said the Australian Aboriginal Tent Embassy’s sacred flame, burning over many years at the Canberra site will be carried to Melbourne before the Games, and its arrival would mark the opening of the protest camp from where a march will proceed to the MCG before the Opening Ceremony.

Black GST claims supporters from all over Australia, including three busloads from the West Australian Land Council, will gather in Melbourne during the Games for peaceful protests.

Aboriginal Affairs Minister Gavin Jennings had offered Victoria Park to the protesters. Victoria Park, former home of Collingwood Football Club, where one of the strongest statements of Aboriginal pride, when St Kilda star Nicky Winmar in 1993 raised his jumper and pointed to his bare chest after racial taunts from the Collingwood crowd.

Black GST, which has labelled the Games the Stolenwealth Games, said the State Government had failed to find a suitable venue. Black GST may encourage protesters to camp in prominent parks such as Fitzroy Gardens and Treasury Gardens. Graffiti supporting the action has also appeared in central Melbourne.

Melbourne City councillor Fraser Brindley has offered his home to the Black GST organisers. “I offered my home up to people who are organising visitors to come to the Games,” he said. Cr Brindley will be overseas when the Commonwealth Games are held and has offered the free accommodation at his flat at Parkville. He said he agreed with the protesters’ view that treaties needed to be signed with indigenous Australians. “I’m offering it up to the indigenous people who are coming to remind Her Majesty that her Empire took this land from them,” said Cr Brindlley. Nationals leader Peter Ryan said: “This extremist group has no part in the Australian community.” Melbourne councillor Peter Clarke said the actions were embarrassing and that he would try to discourage him. “It’s not in the spirit of the Games,” he said.

Aboriginal elder, Targan, said the possibility of securing Victoria Park was delightfully ironic. “There’s a lot of irony going on,” Targan, 53, a PhD student at Melbourne University, said. “GST stands for Genocide, Sovereignty and Treaty. We want the genocide of our people to stop; we want some sovereignty over traditional land, certainly how it is used, and we want a treaty with the government,” Targan said.

How Important Is Effective Electrical Design For Proper Cable Management

How important is Effective Electrical Design for Proper Cable Management

by

Cable Installation

Outsourcing has increasingly become essential all round the globe. However, with the use of computers and internet in offices, it is essential that the electrical design and

cable management

in the office is properly planned to avoid mishaps. Computer networking is also one of the most important aspects considering the kind of work that takes place in offices these days.

Computer networking is nothing but a method of connecting two or more computers in a common network in order to share data and resources. However, it is not necessary that both the connected devices are computers. These resources can also include printers, hard disks, fax modems, data files and anything that is on the computer. Computer networking is usually divided into LAN, MAN and WAN. LAN is nothing but local area network, while MAN is medium area network and WAN is wide area network. However, LAN is the most preferred networking options in offices, because as the name suggests, it better helps in connecting computers in the same or small networks.

While computer networking allows flexible sharing between two or more computers, cable management allows flexible working of electrical devices in the office. It is essential that every organisation looks into its cable management options to ensure a safe working environment for the employees and themselves. Although this may seem complicated, cable management is no rocket science. It is just organising all the cable wires that connect computers and equipment in the office. Every organisation, big or small, must have an electrical design that takes care of cable management and

computer networking

.

One of the most general approaches to best electrical design is compartmentalising different tasks as much as possible. Leaving wires open can be extremely hazardous to the lives of all employees working in the organisation. It is always better to allot a special cabinet or closet, which can actually be the data centre, where patch panels are installed. This will in turn help in easy and modifiable access from various networks to individual PCs.

There are several wired communication solution providers in Australia who can help with appropriate

electrical design

and cable management for your office or organisation. These solution providers are experts in the field. Their team mostly consists of professional architectural and civil designers who are specialists in the industry. Their years of experience enable them to build, maintain and operate effective electrical distribution networks. You may also want to search the web for expert cable management,

computer networking

as well as electrical design services in Australia, for effective results. However, you need to be extremely careful while choosing one of these service providers, because the issue is absolutely critical and can be dangerous for employees working in the organisation.

Over 10,000 attend Gallipoli dawn service for ANZAC Day centenary

Monday, April 27, 2015

A crowd of over 10,000 people attended the dawn service on Saturday at Gallipoli, Turkey for the 100th anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops there in 1915. The solemn remembrance ceremony was held at the site of the original Gallipoli landings, now known as Anzac Cove.

The Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War is remembered as a failed attack in which thousands of lives were lost for little to no gain for either side. The campaign killed 45,000 Allied and 86,000 Turkish troops.

Attendees at the dawn service included Prince Charles, the Prime Minister of Australia, and the Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s speech later in the day emphasised the importance of the day to Australians. “Like every generation since, we are here on Gallipoli because we believe the Anzacs represented Australians at their best. Because they rose to their challenges, we believe it is a little easier for us to rise to ours. Their example helps us to be better than we would otherwise be”, he said.

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key at dawn described Gallipoli as a symbol of the highest ideals of Australians and New Zealanders “especially when they work side by side in the face of adversity”.

Prince Charles stirred emotions by reading extracts from a serviceman’s diary. The diary entry, by Company Quartermaster Sergeant Benjamin Leane, was addressed to his wife and was written hours before the first Gallipoli landing.

The centenary milestone of Anzac Day also drew a Turkish security force of 3700, both police and paramilitary. Attendees entered past six security checkpoints.

A record 120,000 people also attended services at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra to commemorate the centenary.
